Improving Site Accessibility

I’m making some minor changes to the programming of this site to improve its accessibility to users with voice-enabled browsers. These changes will make important information on the site, in particular, text contained in images, accessible to search engines, blind users, and others using browsers with verbal capabilities, such as the new Opera browser.

I’ve also just updated the design page [now included in the electronic artworks page] to link to some of my newest projects, such as the new site for Class Matters.

I spent this past weekend in Middletown Connecticut visiting my friend, composer Anne Wellmer before she travelled back to Europe this week. Anne had been in America for about six weeks to visit friends and for a residency at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

While in Middletown, I was able to catch Tim Eastman’s senior thesis concert, as well as a show of Anne Wellmer’s music, held at the time noted in the title of this news post. Anne ran a Max/MSP patch processing the audio of four performers, Dan St. Clair, Charlie Wilmoth, Tim Eastman, and Aki Sasamoto. Both were great shows.

During the weekend, I also got to see my former advisor Ron Kuivila, who has an opening coming up on the 24th in New York, Micah Silver, Celeste Hutchins, and Anne Rhodes, along with the rest of the Wesleyan new music/ethno scene. I’ll be heading back to Wesleyan at the end of the month for a new music festival being held that weekend.
